Look out Target - Mollie's on a motorized cart!
I had my second post-op appointment with my oncologist the Wednesday following my first post-op. Carrie was generous enough to switch around her work schedule and drive me to Columbus. We had a late lunch before we left Mt. Vernon and made our way afterward. Since we were pretty early, we decided to stop at Target to waste some time (and most likely money). I was still a little concerned about my stamina, so I used one of those electric carts. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did I was an awesome driver. Carrie kept threatening to take pictures and post on Facebook, but to my knowledge neither happened.
Then we headed to the appointment. This one was quite a bit different than the first. I figured that the doctor would probably look at my incisions, but he wouldn’t be incredibly concerned about that. This is the appointment that I got to find out if there was any cancer in my breast tissue. This is the appointment that I had bad dreams about my doctor informing me that they did find something. This appointment felt like the last hurdle.
Worrying will never change the outcome. - Unknown
I tried to stay upbeat. I can’t really change the outcome, everything had gone so great so far, and I’ve never had any abnormal tissue. There was really no reason to believe that there would be anything wrong. I was still scared, though.
Appointment started the same as all of the others. Undress completely from the waist up and wear this robe with the opening in the front. Thankfully this doctor is to the point and one of the first things he told me was that everything was benign and there wasn’t even a atrophy. HUGE sigh of relief. Now I just have annual appointments, mostly so that someone is still following me, and I AM CANCER FREE!!! He did want to make sure that I was continued seeing my gynecologist, which of course I am. I told him that we would schedule the hysterectomy (ok, that’s not the actual term, but I can’t remember the other fancy one and you know what I mean when I write that) during my appointment in July. Now I just need to get some celebration ice cream.
