I went back to my first Girl's Night since the surgery. It was so nice to see these women and have dinner together. One of the more inquisitive of the group asked me, "so, was it really as bad as you thought?" I'm not really sure why this question threw me off. I've had many discussions with friends and family regarding the speed of my recovery and how fast I recovered compared to our expectations, but no one really worded it in such a personal way before.

It actually took me a few seconds to ponder my answer. I kept rolling that question around in my head, thinking back to the hospital and all of my fears leading up to and after the surgery. This is my answer...
Yes. It was as bad as I thought. Although, I thought that it would be that bad for at least three weeks and it was only that bad for about a week. My major turning point was the removal of the drains, but I did get off of the pain medication and was quite mobile before that happened. So, yes, it was, but the duration was not.
